Looking to switch insurance companies. I’m paying 277/mo (6 mo) and currently do not have renter’s insurance. I have 2 accidents 2 1/2 years apart. My last accident was in Dec. 2007. My car was totaled and I know my rates are going to sky rocket. I’m thinking that adding renters insurance & taking defensive driving may help offset my expected increase. To specify, im looking for auto & renter’s, not auto & home owner’s insurance. Thanks.
check into Allstate for a combo coverage but check with someone LIVE and local
Which insurance company offers the best auto and renter’s insurance rate? What is the discount % if known?

What’s your experiences with Geico Auto Insurance?
Posted by admin | Under Auto Insurance Price Quotes Friday Oct 30, 2009I called Geico this morning and received a quote $445.00 per year cheaper than i’m paying now on two cars. They only have a six months policy though, and I’m afraid they will jack up the prices after the six months. I was wondering if anyone has Geico and what experiences you’ve had with them, Good or Bad.
Thanks
My answer is going to be very long, but I’m really just trying to give you good advice and educate you. I’m an insurance agent.
I’ve never had any personal experiences with Geico, but I work in the insurance industry and I just want to share with you what I’ve heard often. I can’t substantiate this information, and I’m not intending to discredit Geico, I’m only trying to help you.
My only word of advice is to double check the coverages you previously have on your auto, and what coverages Geico is offering you. I don’t mean some simplistic answer like, "I have full coverage." That is not an answer, it gives me no idea what limits of coverage you carry. I’m not trying to be mean, but whenever I offer to quote somebody I ask what coverages they have now and that is the answer 80% of the time. Auto insurance is very confusing, and there are lots of different coverages offered and lots of different limits to each coverage.
This is important because if somebody just tells me they have "full coverage", I can prepare them a quote of $200 or $2,000 depending on what coverages I provide. If I’m telling you I’m going to charge you $200 and you’re paying $1,000 right now…I sound awesome. But your current company may be offering you the same coverage I was offering for $2,000. I wouldn’t be cheaper if you compared us apples to apples, but because I’m offering less coverage, I’m saving you a ton of money.
I’ve heard a lot of stories that Geico representatives don’t try to provide apples to apples quotes and won’t properly advise their customers about their coverages. I’ve heard that they’ll be more than happy to sell lowball coverages to get the business.
For example, you need to know IF you carry all of these coverages, and if so WHAT LIMITS your insurance company offers you:
Liability (depending on the state, it can range from $10,000 to millions of dollars).
Personal Injury Protection or Medical Payments (it depends on what state your in whether you’ll be able to purchase these coverages).
Comprehensive/Collision/Full Glass – there can be a range between no deductible (best, but most expensive coverage) and a $2,000 deductible (cheaper, but it will cost you more out of pocket money to fix your car if there’s an accident.)
Emergency roadside service – is there a limit to the amount that can be reimbursed or a limit to the number of times you can use it a year?
Rental Reimbursement – is there a limit to how much they’ll reimburse you, or how many days you can have the rental?
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist bodily injury protection – this may be two separate coverages or one coverage in your state and, like liability, it can range from $10,000 to millions.
A few other minor coverages: Death/dismemberment, loss of earnings and use of non-owned cars.
There may be more coverages or different coverages based on your state, but where I am (Arizona) that’s pretty much the extent of it.
I’d recommend you get a full printout of your coverages from your current insurance company and call back Geico and ask them to requote you with the exact same coverages. As far as I know, you may have already done that, but from my experience in quoting people, almost nobody follows this practice unless prompted to by the quoting agent.
Young Driver Car Insurance, Price help?
Posted by admin | Under Car Insurance for Young Drivers Friday Oct 30, 2009I’m 18, 19 this year and passed my driving test in August but couldn’t afford to run a car because i was jobless, i now have a job as kitchen staff, now i could only be doing 10 hours a week but since i got a job insurance has come down which is good, but with only working 10 hours could it be possible to run a car?
I know it’s different for everyone I’m just after an opinion and if anyone else affords to run a car despite not earning a lot. Also if someone could give me an indication of how much they spend running a car in a week or month etc.. so i can get a rough idea.
I did save up some money from a previous job i have about £2400 which will ideally be used to buy a car and possibly pay the insurance for the year… or possibly use it to pay monthly.
Previous quotes i have got are saying around £1,750
I don’t plan to spend loads on my first car around £600 tops
I wouldn’t drive to work due to it being 10 min walking distance so I’d only really use it for personal use.
Response to "Timbo is here"
I have the money in my bank to afford to pay for the year, so won’t be acquiring a loan.
I will be getting payed the minimum wage, possibly earning at the very minimum £190.80 (10 hours at least every week, minimum)

timbo – sorry my mistake i ment £190.80 a month from working 10hours every week in that month.
£20 a week for petrol
£2 a week save for next road tax
£33 a week for insurance – in your case
£8 a week towards tyres, MOT, services and repairs – could be lots more on a £600 car
If you pay it insurance monthly you will pay interest on the loan of up to about 30% a year so will be cheaper to pay in one go if you can.
Unless you earn a massive hourly rate then you will not be able to afford to go anywhere in it so seems little point in getting one!
If you pay insurance monthly this will be the same as having a loan, like it or not, and you will thus pay interest in that a policy that would cost £1000 up front would cost £1300 in installments.
If they are going to pay you over £19 an hour for a 10 hour week could you please see if they have some vacancies that I could apply for please? If on mimimum wage you will not even be on £70 a week for 10 hours!
Im 16 and want to know if i can buy my own car and how long will i have to work before i can.?

and if your going to be a** holes like mike here then i suggest you F*** off
Considering that you cannot spell WAGE correctly, I doubt you will work at any job beyond minimum wage. I think your parents are smarter than you realize, maybe even smarter than you, Princess.
